Muwisa

Muwisa (무위사)

Muwisa is a sonic reflection of a specific place and, at the same time, of an inner state. The piece was born from my visits to the Buddhist temple Muwisa, located in a valley within Wolchulsan National Park, in Wolha-ri, my wife’s hometown. It is a space where time seems to stand still and where silence carries its own weight.

The music gathers those intimate impressions: the calm of the surroundings, a spirituality that is not explicit yet constantly present, and the feeling of being protected by the mountain landscape. There is no drama or urgency; everything unfolds with the naturalness of something that does not need explanation.

Muwisa does not describe the place — it inhabits it. It is a composition born from contemplation, from slow gesture and respect for emptiness. Like the temple itself, the piece invites us to pause, to listen inwardly, and to accept that peace is sometimes found simply by remaining.
